"Modeling the Life of Christ to Our Community"

Dr. Bob M. Patterson has been the pastor of First Baptist Church in Warm Springs GA since 01 December 1986.
With his leadership the church is experiencing consistent and balanced growth.  Ministry growth includes an
active community missions ministry helping people with food, clothing, life skills and health needs. We partner
with public and private social service agencies and other faith communities. For some time the congregation had
a cooperative relationship with the Baptist Health Care system providing a congregational nurse. The church also
helped start [and still operates] the first soccer league in Meriwether County. Growth in terms of discipleship
includes a strong ongoing Christian Discipleship ministry regularly dealing with Christian History, Theology,
Ethics and Biblical Studies. All leadership positions are open to men and women who meet the biblical criteria.
Neither marital status nor gender are barriers by themselves to service. In terms of facility growth the church has
been through two major building programs and three major renovation projects.

Personal
I was raised in North Georgia in rural north Hall County.  I attended the public schools and lived on a small family
farm. After High School graduation I was a page in The United States House of Representatives in Washington,
D.C.  While there I spent two months on Detached Duty with the Press Gallery during the Nixon Impeachment
Inquiry.
I graduated from North Georgia College majoring in History [with an emphasis in American History] and Political
Science [with a focus in Soviet Union/East European/ International Relations] in 1980.  I earned a master of
Divinity Degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth TX.  While there, I participated in a
Reformation Study tour led by Bill Estep, Leon McBeth and Bill Leonard.
After seminary I returned to Georgia and served the First Baptist Church in Flowery Branch as a bi-vocational
minister of Education and Youth. I became the pastor at First Baptist Church in Warm Springs on 01 December
1986.
I earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  The project title was
“Developing a Needs-based Church Ministry Strategy for FBC Warm Springs, GA” The project changed the
churches’ direction and ministry.
I am married to Angela Bulloch Patterson and we have four children.
I enjoy reading, researching the life of Franklin Roosevelt and traveling.
